A little back story
I wasn’t into journaling at all. I found it hard to write down my emotions. But the pandemic made a huge impact on my life. There were some uncertain events that affected my mental health and so after researching about to let go of such feelings I again came across journaling as it’s the most popular method. And this time I decided to go for it.Â
I started with small steps, used journaling prompts for healing as It was hard to write it on my own and it started benefitted me. After that Journaling became my habit. I started different types of journaling, and wrote about everything from gratitude and positive things to my frustrations and all this helped me to understand myself better.
That’s how journaling does wonders to me and I know it will do for you also!

25 Journal prompts for mental health

Use the journal prompts for mental health to ease your anxiety, reduce feelings of confusion, and explore your emotions.
- Who are the people that make you feel happy?
- What is it about them that brings joy to your life?
- Are they your close ones or you have just found a connection with them?
- What they have done for you that you feel about them like this
- Are there any regrets in your life?
- If so, write them down.
- What can you do to get over them?
- Either throw them away or toss them into the fire(LET GO OF PAST)
- What’s your favorite book?
-  List all your favorite books and explain why it’s your favorite.
- Do you feel any connection with that book?
- Was it a story that comforted you in any way?
- Did it make you remember great times?
- Write down songs that mean the most to you.
- What do the lyrics speak to you?
- How do you relate to these songs?
- How do feel when you hear them.
- Pick the top 3 things from the list which you wish to accomplish
- Set a goal for 3 months or 6 months to accomplish it.
- Make a plan how do you want to do it? What does it take?
- Let go of fears, learn about those things, and do try it once.
- What do you feel most insecure about?
- Why did you start feeling like that?
- Do people’s opinions matter to you?
- What will you do to overcome your insecurity?

- What items/objects do you feel the most comforting?
- Why do you think like that?
- What is comforting about them?
- What’s your favorite memory?
- What makes it your favorite?
- Is it because of some people? Or any event?
- How do you feel when you remember it right now?
- When was the last time you did something kind for someone else?
- What did you do? And why?
- How did you feel?
- Â Write a love letter to yourself
- Write down everything that you feel at that moment
- Write about letting go of your grudges
- Write down the comforting words you wish to hear from others
- Write down about people that make you feel the most “at ease”.
- What do they do to make you feel that way?
- Why are they special to you?
- Write down 2 of your favorite smells?
- Does that smells connect with someone?
- Write down in detail how each one makes you feel.
- Write a letter to your teenage self
- What’s that one thing you want to tell them?
- What advice do you want to give them?
- Find a photo you love
- Describe that picture
- Why do you love that picture? How do you feel when you see it.
(If you can print out that picture and stick it in your journal with descriptions)

- Write down whatever comes to your mind
- What is bothering you, what are your frustrations?
- Are you happy? Satisfied? Anxious-free?
- What secrets are you keeping in your life?
- Are they affecting your mental health in any way?
- Why or why not?
- Write about your favorite place?
- What is it about that place that makes you feel good?
- Describe that place in detail, what do you do in that place? How it smell? How does it sound?
-  What are the strongest emotions you’ve ever felt?
- Write about how those emotions affected you?
- What caused you to feel those emotions?
- Write down why are you more than “good enough”
- First of all, you are in something more than good enough.
- So mention all the reasons and why you feel like that.`
- Write down 5 things that make you incredibly happy.
- Describe in detail what are they.
- Why do they make you feel this way?
- Write about what stresses you the most.
- List 5 things or situations that stress you out.
- How do you usually respond to such things?
- How are you able to change these situations?
- Describe your dream home.
- Write in detail where you want to live.
- What do you want your home to look like?
- What do you enjoy doing as a child?
- Write down your favorite activities or memories.
- Can you include some of those things in your current life?
- What similar thing you can do now to get that pleasure again?
- Write down all the compliments you have received recently
- Which is the best one you?
- Write down compliments to people in your life.
- What risks do you want to take?
- Why do you want to take that?
- How it will impact your life?
- What’s holding you back?

I love how these prompts are ones that would help me know and understand myself more. Great ideas, for me, dealing with mental health, I would speak my thoughts out loud haha. It might sound weird but it helps to control myself a bit.

This is so nice, I also find it hard to write down my emotions. Putting your thoughts on paper is not easy but feels good when you do it. I like your prompts ideas, they make you feel connected to your own- self which allows you to build your confidence.
